It’s been a season to forget so far for Bolton Wanderers, with the Trotters struggling to find any sort of momentum in their fight against relegation this term.
Keith Hill’s side are currently sat bottom of the League One table, and are 17 points adrift of safety which will make concerning reading for the club’s supporters.
It doesn’t get much easier for Bolton either this weekend, as they prepare to take on promotion-chasing Portsmouth, in what is certain to be a tough test for Hill’s men.
Speaking to Sky Sports for his weekly ‘Prutton predicts‘ segment, EFL pundit David Prutton issued his thoughts on the game between the two sides, and has predicted a comfortable win for Kenny Jackett’s side.
“Bolton have dropped off again since Boxing Day, and have lost their last three on the spin – conceding 11 goals in the process. They are playing for pride now this season, and to try and build towards their next campaign in League Two.
“Portsmouth are right up in the promotion mix now. A win on Saturday could well see them move into the top six, and the top two are in sight as well. They should claim all three points here.”
A win could see Portsmouth move into the play-off positions in League One, as they look to bounce back from a defeat to Sunderland in their play-off semi-final last season.
