Middlesbrough will be looking to get back to winning ways when they take on relegation-threatened Luton Town on Saturday afternoon.

Boro are currently sat 18th in the Championship table, and will be keen to pull further clear of the bottom three at the earliest of opportunities.

Jonathan Woodgate's side were forced to settle for a point in their last game against Wigan Athletic in midweek, which leaves Boro without a win in their last eight games in all competitions.

It won't be an easy game by any stretch of the imagination this weekend though, as they take on Luton Town who are fighting to survive in the second-tier this term.

The Hatters beat Sheffield Wednesday in midweek, so they'll arrive in Middlesbrough in a confident mood.

Sky Sports' EFL pundit David Prutton has issued his thoughts ahead of the game, and has predicted that the game will finish in a 1-1 draw at the Riverside.

"Middlesbrough haven't won in a while, but they aren't losing too many at the minute either. This is a chance to get back to winning ways against a Luton side who won in midweek but have a dreadful away record.

"I have a feeling they could nick a draw here, though."

A win for Luton could move them to within four points of safety if other results are to go their way, but they'll be well-aware of the threat posed by Middlesbrough on Saturday.

The Verdict:

I think Middlesbrough will run out winners in this one.

They've not been at their best in recent weeks, but they put together a good run of form over the festive period, which has eased their relegation fears.

But if they're not careful, they could easily find themselves in a relegation scrap as we head towards the conclusion of this year's campaign.

Luton will have to go out and attack Boro if they're to pick up a much-needed win in this one, and I can see that playing into Middlesbrough's hands.

A narrow win for Jonathan Woodgate's side is my prediction ahead of this one.
