Ipswich Town will be looking to build upon their 2-1 victory over Tranmere Rovers when they face Lincoln City at Portman Road tomorrow.

The Tractor Boys sealed all three points on their travels last weekend thanks to goals from Flynn Downes and Kayden Jackson.

Following a dip in form which resulted in Ipswich falling down the third-tier standings, a run of four league games unbeaten has allowed them to move back up to third.

Currently two points behind League One leaders Rotherham United, the Tractor Boys could potentially move into automatic promotion positions this weekend depending on the outcome of results elsewhere.

Although Ipswich will head into Saturday's clash as slight favourites due to the fact that they are nine places above the Imps in the third-tier, they cannot afford to underestimate Michael Appleton's side.

In their most recent showdown with Lincoln in December, the Tractor Boys suffered a 5-3 defeat at Sincil Bank.

Speaking to Sky Sports, pundit David Prutton has predicted that Ipswich will beat Lincoln 2-0 tomorrow.

The 38-year-old said: "It is an unbeaten start to 2020 for Ipswich Town.

"Most importantly they have started picking up a couple of wins again after going virtually the whole of the last couple of months without one.

"Michael Appleton is starting to make his mark at Lincoln.

"He did not have the easiest of starts but they are winning games and climbing the table now.

"But Ipswich should have too much for them."

The Verdict

Whilst Lincoln will unquestionably pose a threat on Saturday, Ipswich will be confident in their ability to take the game to their League One rivals.

Having stepped up their performance levels since the turn of the year, the Tractor Boys should have more than enough quality to seal all three points at Portman Road.

Providing that the likes of Jackson, Downes and James Norwood are all on top-form, there is no reason why Ipswich cannot produce a thrilling display in front of their supporters.

If Ipswich do secure an impressive victory over the Imps, they could use the momentum gained from this particular result to push on over the coming months in the third-tier.
