David Prutton has predicted Cardiff to run out surprise victors when they take on league leaders West Brom in midweek.

The Bluebirds come into the game as seemingly the draw specialists of the division and struggle to get over the line when they take the lead. They need to go on a good run of form if they're to catch the Championship's top six.

West Brom have suffered of late and haven't won in the Championship since mid-December. This has seen the lead drop at the top of the table, and they'll need to get back to winning ways as soon as possible.

Prutton has predicted that Cardiff will come away from the fixture with a 1-0 win on Tuesday night, which could turn out to be a big boost to their play-off hopes.

Speaking in his Sky Sports column, Prutton said: "The inability to kill off games is really hurting Cardiff, who have drawn four of their last five games, including two in the FA Cup, adding unwanted congestion to their already packed schedule and restricting them to one league win in seven.

"There really does seem to be a hint of altitude sickness creeping in for West Brom, too. There's just no consistency and the injury to Grady Diangana in mid-December seems to have had some influence in that. They really need a win here but I am not sure they will get it."

The Verdict

It's got all the hallmarks of a really interesting game on Tuesday, with no one quite sure how this one is going to pan out in the Welsh capital.

West Brom have really stuttered of late, although in the FA Cup they managed to earn a great away win at Premier League side West Ham.

They need to take inspiration from that victory in the cup, and try and get the wins going again in the league to carry on their promotion push.

This is quite a big fixture for both teams, and West Brom won't want teams behind them breathing down their neck heading into a tough month of fixtures.
