Blackburn Rovers will be aiming to make a positive start to life under the guidance of their new manager Jon Dahl Tomasson tomorrow when they host Queens Park Rangers at Ewood Park.

Drafted in as a replacement for Tony Mowbray, Tomasson has recently managed to bolster his squad by securing the services of Callum Brittain.

Brittain could potentially be handed his competitive debut for Blackburn in this weekend's fixture after featuring for the club in pre-season.

QPR have also opted to enter a new dawn by appointing a new manager.

Michael Beale is set to oversee proceedings at Loftus Road this season following Mark Warburton's departure.

The R's will be able to turn to Tyler Roberts, Taylor Richards, Kenneth Paal and Jake Clarke-Salter for inspiration in the upcoming term after signing this quartet.

Given that both sides were involved in the battle for a play-off place during a considerable chunk of the previous campaign, Saturday's clash may turn out to be an enthralling affair.

Ahead of this meeting, David Prutton has predicted that the match will end in a 2-2 draw in his latest Sky Sports column.

The 40-year-old said: "Both of these teams were right in the promotion mix going into the final few months of last season, but their momentum slowed at a terrible time, meaning neither were ultimately able to make the top six.

"Blackburn in particular endured a very rough second half of the campaign.

"It's a tough one to call because in Jon Dahl Tomasson and Michael Beale, both sides have new men with new ideas at the helm.

"However, this could make for an entertaining afternoon if they continue to employ attacking styles.

"Therefore I'm going for a goal-laden draw."

The Verdict

Whereas a draw would not necessarily be a bad result for Blackburn or QPR, both sides will be determined to start the season with a win.

Rovers will need to keep a close eye on the likes of Ilias Chair and Lyndon Dykes in this particular fixture as these two players are capable of delivering the goods in the Championship.

In order to have the best chance of sealing all three points in this fixture, Blackburn may need to turn to Ben Brereton Diaz for inspiration.

The Chile international will be confident in his ability to make a difference against QPR as he managed to find the back of the net on 22 occasions at this level during the previous campaign.
