Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has issued his prediction for Preston North End's clash with Luton Town on Saturday.

Alex Neil's side ended a four-game winning run by beating fellow promotion chasers Fulham 2-1 at Deepdale on Wednesday evening.

That result saw them move back into the top six and they will undoubtedly be hoping to continue to climb back up the table when they welcome Championship strugglers Luton Town to Deepdale on the weekend.

West Bromwich Albion and Manchester City are the only teams to beat Preston at home this season, while the Hatters have only won twice on the road this season and have picked up just two victories in their last nine games.

Graeme Jones' men have had a strange few weeks, having grabbed important victories against Charlton Athletic and Wigan Athletic but slumped to comprehensive defeats at the hands of Brentford and Stoke City.

Writing for Sky Sports, Prutton has suggested their struggles are set to continue and predicted that Preston will win 3-1 at Deepdale on Saturday.

That result could see the North West side go as high as third in the Championship, should results elsewhere go their way.

For Luton, anything more than a defeat would mean they stay out of the relegation zone.

The Verdict

Preston had seemed a bit lost during their losing run but looked back to it against Fulham and you'd imagine that is likely to continue against a Luton side with a poor away record.

Deepdale has been a fortress for Neil's men this season and it is difficult to see the Hatters getting a result–particularly as they've lost all of their last three away games, conceding 13 goals in the process.

If Preston are going to have any hope of catching the top two, these are the sort of games they simply have to be winning.
