Blackburn Rovers will be hoping that they can maintain their impressive recent run of form in the Championship when they return to action this weekend.
Rovers ran out comfortable 3-0 winners in their most recent match against ten-men Preston North End at Deepdale in midweek.
It means that Tony Mowbray’s side are now unbeaten in their last four matches in the Championship, as they currently sit 12th in the second-tier standings.
They’re just five points adrift of the play-off places after their opening 13 matches of this year’s campaign and will fancy their chances of putting together a strong run of form heading into the potentially season-defining festive period.
They are next in action against Barnsley at Ewood Park, in a match that they’ll be expected to pick up three points from.
The Tykes are currently sat 14th in the Championship table, and have shown glimpses of their quality so far this season, although their results have been inconsistent in the second-tier.
Sky Sports’ EFL Pundit David Prutton predicted that both sides won’t be separated on the day, with a 2-2 draw being predicted by the former Nottingham Forest and Leeds midfielder.
Can you score full marks in this 19-question Blackburn Rovers quiz about the club’s former strikers?
This is certainly a bold prediction!
Blackburn have really impressed me going forward this season, but they are shaky in defence, which is something that needs to be addressed by Tony Mowbray as soon as possible.
Barnsley have the quality to hurt them as well, with the likes of Cauley Woodrow being a player that is a proven goalscorer in the Championship.
He’ll cause them problems, but I can see Blackburn being too strong in attack for the Tykes this weekend.
