Birmingham City will be aiming to get back to winning ways in the Championship tomorrow when they face West Bromwich Albion at St Andrew's.

The Blues, who opted to hand over reins to Pep Clotet on a permanent basis earlier this month, have experienced a mixed run of form in recent weeks.

Since beating Luton Town 2-1 at the end of October, Birmingham have only triumphed in one of their last seven league fixtures which has resulted in them slipping down to 15th in the second-tier standings.

Whilst the Blues did illustrate some signs of promise against Reading last weekend, they were extremely underwhelming during their 2-0 defeat to Queens Park Rangers on Wednesday.

In need of a response from his players to this particular display, it will be intriguing to see whether Clotet makes any drastic changes to his starting eleven tomorrow for the visit of West Brom.

Given that the Baggies are currently flying in the Championship under the guidance of Slaven Bilic, Birmingham will have to be on top-form if they are to secure a positive result in-front of their own supporters.

Speaking to Sky Sports, David Prutton has predicted that the Blues will lose 2-0 to West Brom on Saturday at St Andrew's.

The 38-year-old said: "It's been a strange week for Birmingham.

"They were good at the weekend against Reading, then really poor as they lost to QPR on Wednesday.

"The inconsistency will frustrate Pep Clotet.

"West Brom were held at Wigan last week.

"They looked really flat as their winning run came to an end.

"They have an unbelievably healthy lead over the sides below them, though, and could extend that with a win on Saturday."

The Verdict

When you consider just how impressive West Brom have been this season, Birmingham face a mammoth task on Saturday to prevent the visitors from sealing all three-points.

With the Blues set to be without Marc Roberts and Harlee Dean for the clash due to their respective injury issues, they may struggle to cope with the Baggies' attacking prowess.

However, providing that Clotet's side can make a positive start to the game, they could potentially secure a draw at St Andrew's if West Brom are not on song.
