The match of the season is nigh with Leeds United hosting Sheffield United tomorrow at lunchtime.
Elland Road is the venue when the sides second and third respectively in the league battle it out for three incredibly precious points.
Marcelo Bielsa and Chris Wilder’s teams are separated by just two points going into the game, and the winner could well have the upper hand in the automatic promotion race heading into the final eight games.
Leeds have won five of their last six games, including their last three in a row.
The Blades, meanwhile, have lost once in their previous ten games –none of their last nine – winning six times.
It will be a powder keg atmosphere at Elland Road in what is sure to be a white-hot 90-minutes between the two promotion chasers.
Ahead of the meeting between the two sides, David Prutton once again offered his prediction to the outcome for Sky Sports, casting his eye on this particular contest.
The EFL presenter said: “This is a huge game in the battle for promotion.
“It is the last time any of the top three will meet each other this season, so it’s also the last time for any of them to directly impact upon each other’s results.
“Both of these sides got big wins in midweek and confidence will be high in each camp.
“The reverse fixture earlier in the season was decided by a mistake, and I expect this to be another tight game. I just think Leeds will have enough at home. 2-1.”
This is quite simply the most important game of the season for both sides – I think the winner of this fixture will earn automatic promotion to the Premier League come the end of the campaign.
That is how important this game is looking to be.
And I think that having named an unchanged side so much recently with so many games, Bielsa’s side will falter somewhat – and I see the Blades winning this 2-1.
