Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has predicted that West Bromwich Albion will extend their unbeaten run in the Championship with a win against Reading on Wednesday.

West Brom welcome the Royals to the Hawthorns for the midweek clash knowing that, should results elsewhere go their way, they could go top of the league with a win.

The Baggies have made a good start to life under Slaven Bilic and sit third in the Championship, with seven points from three games.

They face a visit from Reading, who grabbed their first win of the season against Cardiff City on Sunday, hammering the former Premier League side 3-0 at the Madejski Stadium.

West Brom will likely offer Jose Gomes’ side a sterner test. Too stern, according to Prutton, who has predicted the home side will finish with a 1-0 win on Wednesday in his Sky Sports column.

Bilic will be hoping he can orchestrate a repeat of last year’s meeting between the two sides at the Hawthorns, which finished 4-1 to the Baggies.

Reading started quickly on that occasion, taking the lead inside the first 10 minutes through Leonardo Bacuna, however, a brace from Dwight Gayle and goals from Harvey Barnes and Kyle Bartley meant the hosts finished comfortable winners.

After some shrewd summer business, the Royals will likely feel they have a significantly stronger squad than the one that finished 20th last season but their visit to the Hawthorns still looks set to be a tough one.

The Verdict

I have to agree with Prutton here, Reading were fantastic against Cardiff on Sunday but I think the Baggies are going to be too strong for them tomorrow night.

Under Bilic, West Brom have not been entirely convincing and I think this could be a close one, especially if the Royals can produce an attacking display similar to the one they provided against the Bluebirds.

Summer signing George Puscas looks an exciting player and should be high on confidence after finding the net twice on the weekend.
