Villa Park is the venue for Saturday’s Championship fixture as Hull City face off against Aston Villa.

Dean Smith’s men are coming up against the form team in the division and know a win could move them within two points of the top-six.

Having failed to win in their last three, Villa have fallen away from the play-off places somewhat and have won just once in their previous six matches.

Villa are 12th in the league after that run of form, hoping to topple the seemingly unstoppable Tigers in their tracks this weekend.

Nigel Adkins’ men, meanwhile, have won their last six matches in a row and have moved above their opponents tomorrow, and are just four points off the top-six after being in a relegation scrap in the early stages of the season.

A win for Hull could move them within a point of the top-six, continuing their impressive winning run.

Ahead of the meeting of the two clubs, Sky Sports recruited the help of pundit David Prutton to look forward to the fixture and try to predict an outcome.

The EFL presenter said: “Is the early positivity felt under Dean Smith dwindling at Villa Park?

“It was always going to take him a while to make his mark, but one win in seven Championship games will never be good enough for Aston Villa at this level.

“This would have been a home banker earlier in the season, but Hull are absolutely flying with six wins on the spin and now find themselves above Villa in the table.

“They could easily keep that going on Saturday, 1-2.”

The Verdict

Hull City are on their best run of the season having won their last six games in a row to put them in touching distance of the play-off places.

Nigel Adkins’ side leapfrogged their opponents at the weekend in the process and are ahead of them by just one point and two places.

And the unstoppable train that is the Tigers is steamrolling any other challengers that they are pitted against.

David Prutton thinks Hull’s fine form will continue, but I think Villa at home will cause them issues.

A score-draw for me.
