Reading will be looking to cement their position inside the top-six in the Championship table when they return to action on Tuesday evening in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

The Royals beat relegation-threatened Rotherham United 1-0 in their last match, which saw them pick up much-needed points in the battle for promotion into the Premier League this term.

The Berkshire-based side are currently sat fifth in the second-tier standings, but will be well-aware of the play-off chasing teams around them, with the likes of Barnsley and Cardiff City just some of the teams edging closer to the top-six.

Reading take on Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday, with Tony Mowbray's side looking to return to winning ways, as they head into this one winless in their last six matches.

Sky Sports' EFL pundit David Prutton has issued his thoughts ahead of the game, and labelled the match as a 'must-win' for Veljko Paunovic's side, before predicting that Reading will run out narrow 1-0 winners on the night.

"With teams queuing up outside the top six it was important for Reading to get back to winning ways on Saturday. The top two may be a little beyond them now, but making the play-offs would still represent a fantastic season.

"This is must-win for them against a side in no kind of form at all. Blackburn may have drawn at the weekend, but they are on a really poor run and are drifting down the table. I can only really see a home win here."

The Verdict:

I have to agree with Prutton's prediction here.

Reading needed to pick up a win at the weekend against Rotherham, and even though they weren't at their best, they got the job done at the New York Stadium.

Blackburn have really struggled to put together a positive run of results since the turn of the New Year, and I can't see them picking up anything at the Madejski Stadium on Tuesday evening.

It's vital that Reading pick up points with the play-off chasing pack closing in, and I think they'll see of Tony Mowbray's side with relative ease.
