David Prutton is backing Leeds United to build on last weekend’s 3-2 victory over Millwall and beat Birmingham City when they head to St Andrew’s on Saturday.
Leeds eventually overcame Millwall at Elland Road last weekend, with a late Pablo Hernandez goal completing an impressive turnaround and putting promotion back in the hands of Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
And, Prutton is expecting the Whites to go on and record back-to-back wins in Birmingham this weekend.
Writing in his prediction column for Sky Sports, the former Elland Road midfielder believes Bielsa’s side will sneak a narrow win.
“Birmingham would have been so disappointed not to go on and win at West Brom, having led twice in that game, because it would have been such a huge boost at a vital time,” he wrote.
“They turned up at Elland Road and beat Leeds in the reverse fixture this season, but Marcelo Bielsa’s side will be riding high after climbing back into the top two. They should have enough to sneak this one.”
Birmingham were on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline last weekend, with Garry Monk’s side beaten by West Brom. That, combined with a nine-point deduction recently, has left Blues nervously looking over their shoulders, with relegation still a possibility.
Monk’s side can take confidence from their 2-1 win over Leeds in the reverse fixture, though, with Che Adams’ brace the difference between the two sides.
It’s going to be a tough afternoon for Leeds at Birmingham, with the point deduction meaning Blues have a false league position.
They’re a good, solid unit and will make things tough for the Whites at St Andrew’s.
Leeds will go and try to play their game, but it might not be enough for three points.
I’d be swaying toward a low scoring draw.
