Sky Sports EFL expert David Prutton has given his verdict on Cardiff City's midweek trip to The Den to face Millwall.

Lions caretaker manager Adam Barrett will still be reeling after conceding three times in the last ten minutes to lose 3-2 to Brentford at Griffin Park on Saturday, which must've been very painful to stomach.

As it stands, Gary Rowett is in pole position to take up the vacant manager's position in South-East London, so if this is Barrett's last match in charge, he'll want to give the Millwall faithful something to cheer about.

Meanwhile for Neil Warnock's Cardiff, they make the midweek trip to London on the back of a 1-1 draw against Garry Monk's Sheffield Wednesday, at the Cardiff City Stadium, where they managed to snatch a late equaliser in the 87th minute to share the spoils.

On the Sky Sports Website, Prutton provided his verdict for Tuesday's game, predicting that the hosts would finish 2-1 winners.

A win for Cardiff will push them back in reach of the play-off places, and give them some momentum to take into the South Wales Derby against Swansea on Sunday.

For Millwall, the side will want to channel a similar performance to the last time they played at The Den, which was a 2-1 victory against Leeds United. A win for them would give them some welcome breathing space and move them clear of relegation trouble.

The Verdict

This one is a very tough one to call, but Prutton is correct with his prediction. Despite Millwall's inconsistent form, they have been scoring a lot of goals and have played with freedom since former manager Neil Harris resigned from the role.

Cardiff on the other hand have been poor away from home this season, and are yet to win on their travels - which is not a great record for a side looking to mount a push for promotion.

The last three meetings between the sides in the Championship have ended in draws, and Cardiff's last win against The Lions came in December 2012. That does not make for good reading for Warnock's team.
