Sky Sports EFL pundit David Prutton has issued his prediction on Luton Town's clash with Sheffield Wednesday at Kenilworth Road this evening, suggesting that the Owls will win the game 1-0.

Wednesday drew 1-1 with Yorkshire rivals Barnsley on the weekend, with Cauley Woodrow canceling out Josh Windass' opener.

The Owls haven't won since their impressive 2-0 victory against another Yorkshire rival, Leeds United, and have drifted toward the back of the play-off race.

Garry Monk's men are 11th in the table as things stand–six points adrift of the top six.

They will be hoping to close that gap with a victory against a Luton side that are starting to look in real trouble.

Graeme Jones' side are bottom of the Championship and nine points away from safety.

There are still 15 games left of the season, so it isn't panic stations just yet, but with just one win since the 7th of December, things aren't looking promising.

The Hatters lost 1-0 to Cardiff City on Saturday and, on the Sky Sports website, Prutton has predicted they will suffer the same fate this evening.

Prutton has suggested that Wednesday will come away with a 1-0 win.

That result could see the Owls close the gap on the top six, should results elsewhere go their way, while it may mean Luton drift 12 points away from safety.

The Verdict

Wednesday's recent form has been far from impressive but you have to back them against a Luton side that are looking more and more like they're destined to return to League One after just one season.

This looks like the ideal game for Monk, who is still waiting for his January additions to gel.

A win against the Hatters could be just the confidence boost that the Owls need to kick-start their promotion push.

On the other hand, if Luton can get something from this it could be massive and begin a well-needed change in fortunes.
