David Prutton has issued his verdict on Hull City's trip to face Middlesbrough on Sunday.

Grant McCann's side arrive at the Riverside in a good vein of form, having won three of their past four games and climbed into the top half of the Championship.

The Tigers put in a strong performance against league leaders West Bromwich Albion prior to the international break and will be hoping to pick up a result against struggling Boro.

Things have not gone to plan at the North East club since Jonathan Woodgate took charge in the summer and have slipped down into the relegation zone.

Boro have won just twice this season and have not picked up three points since their 1-0 win over Reading in mid-September.

Writing for Sky Sports, Prutton has predicted their misery to continue and suggested that the Tigers will emerge as 2-0 winners on Sunday.

He said: "It really couldn't have gone much worse for Jonathan Woodgate so far. They have picked up just two wins all season and find themselves in the relegation zone heading into Sunday's game.

"Hull on their day can give anyone a game in this league, and with Jarrod Bowen and Kamil Grosicki they could carve through Boro at the Riverside."

If he is right, Hull could close the gap on the top six, which is currently six points away.

Should Woodgate's side get a result and prove him wrong, Boro could climb out of the drop zone–as long as either Luton Town or Wigan Athletic don't win.

The Verdict

It's difficult to disagree with Prutton on this one. Hull have seemed to find their feet under McCann in recent weeks and they've got a great chance of making it four wins in five against a Boro side that have regularly been dismal this season.

Woodgate's side have lacked any real attacking bite this season, scoring the fewest goals in the division, whereas the Tigers have the likes of Jarrod Bowen and Kamil Grosicki, who have been in excellent form.

It's great to see the Boro boss given some patience by the club but you do wonder how long that will last.
