Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has issued his prediction on the Championship clash between Leeds United and Blackburn Rovers at Elland Road on Saturday.

The Whites looked really impressive in their 2-0 win against QPR last weekend–with Tyler Roberts getting amongst the goals in his first league start of the season.

That result leaves them third in the Championship–two points back from league leaders West Bromwich Albion.

They will be hoping to make it two wins it two–something they haven't done since the start of October–when Rovers arrive in West Yorkshire on Saturday.

Tony Mowbray's side will likely be high on confidence after grabbing a late win against Sheffield Wednesday last weekend.

Rovers scored twice after the 88th minute to beat the Owls 2-1 at Ewood Park but they remain in mid-table mediocrity–six points from the relegation zone and seven points from the play-offs.

Writing for Sky Sports, Prutton has suggested that Marcelo Bielsa's men will be too strong for the visitors–predicting a 1-0 win for the Whites.

He said: "Leeds got back to winning ways against QPR last week but, as importantly, it was also the first time since mid-September that they had scored more than once in a Championship game.

"Blackburn's late comeback on Saturday against Sheffield Wednesday saw them also end a really poor slump of form, but to make it back-to-back wins will be tough. Leeds should nick this one."

If Prutton is correct, Leeds could go top of the Championship–should West Brom and Preston North End both slip up.

A win for Mowbray's side would ensure they don't drop too far back from the top six, while a loss could mean they slip towards a relegation fight.

The Verdict

Prutton is correct here–Bielsa's side look like they will have too much for the visitors on Saturday.

We have seen a number of teams get results against Leeds this season by sitting back and frustrating them, so it will be interesting to see what approach Mowbray takes.

The Whites have struggled in front of goal this season, scoring the joint fewest goals in the top six, but showed some really promising signs last week.

Roberts operating behind Patrick Bamford worked really well against QPR and I wouldn't be surprised if Bielsa sticks with that formation against Rovers.
