David Prutton has issued his verdict on the clash between Barnsley and Hull City at Oakwell on Saturday.

Gerhard Struber has had a difficult start to life with the Tykes, slipping to defeats in his first two games in charge.

Barnsley were unfortunate not to take anything from their midweek clash with fellow strugglers Middlesbrough but a 1-0 defeat in that game leaves them bottom of the Championship ahead of the arrival of Hull.

The Tigers will likely be high on confidence on the back of their 4-0 hammering of high-flying Preston North End on Wednesday.

Grant McCann's side appear to have finally found their feet and led by the seemingly unstoppable Jarrod Bowen are climbing up the league table.

They will surely see a trip to Barnsley, who have gone 17 league games without a win, as an opportunity to grab another three points and continue to close the gap on the top six.

Writing for Sky Sports, Prutton has predicted they will do just that and suggested that the Tigers will win 2-0 on Saturday.

That result could mean Hull move to within a point of the play-off places, should results elsewhere go their way.

A loss for the Tykes may mean they slip even further away from safety but a win could see them close the gap to five points.

The Verdict

After the results in midweek, it's difficult to argue with Prutton on this one, Hull just seem like they may have too much for the hosts.

Preston were poor on Wednesday but the Tigers looked lethal going forward and cut through Alex Neil's side with ease.

It's difficult to see this Barnsley defence, who have conceded the most goals in the division this season, keeping them out.
