Wednesday night presents a battle between two promotion rivals competing for a play-off spot, as Aston Villa host Nottingham Forest at Villa Park.

Dean Smith's men come into the fixture in high spirits, on the back of an enthralling 4-2 win over arch rivals Birmingham City last Sunday - it's now 4 wins out of 6 for the former Brentford boss.

Aitor Karanka's Forest have been impressive of late - a 2-0 win away at Hull City at the weekend was their third win in their last five league games, and the Reds have lost just one of their last twelve league outings.

It's bound to be a thriller with both teams in decent form, so what does Sky Sports pundit David Prutton predict? The former Sheffield Wednesday man has predicted a 2-2 draw.

"What a game on Sunday and what a massive win that was for Aston Villa against their biggest rivals! It's three on the spin for Dean Smith's side now and they are starting to look like a real threat to the top six."

"For all Nottingham Forest's big signings in the summer, it is Lewis Grabban and Joe Lolley who are their standout performers so far. Grabban would love to score on his return to Villa Park and it will be hard to keep him at bay. Score draw for me."

Villa sit one place behind Forest in 8th position with 27 points, whilst Forest lie 7th in the Championship table just one point off arch rivals Derby County in 6th place.

The Verdict

It's bound to be a cracker at Villa Park - Villa will be feeling confident on the back of three league wins and a magnificent victory over Birmingham last weekend. Forest are very tough to beat however, so I reckon it will be a low-scoring game, perhaps a 1-1 draw.
