David Prutton has predicted Reading will come out on top when Mark Bowen’s side host Hull City on Saturday.

The Royals come into the fixture on the back of a penalty shoot-out victory in the FA Cup against Championship rivals Cardiff City. In the league, however, Bowen's side haven't found a win in their last five.

Hull have been in dismal Championship form and have lost their last four games in the division. Alongside that, they were thrashed at the KCOM Stadium last weekend when they conceded five against Brentford.

Both Jarrod Bowen and Kamil Grosicki have left the Tigers, although Marcus Maddison could be in line for his first start after joining from Peterborough United.

Prutton has predicted a tight game at the Madejski Stadium and for Reading to come out on top with a 1-0 victory.

In his column for Sky Sports, Prutton said: "Reading are without a win in five now, but are still playing decent stuff and got a great FA Cup win in midweek. Hull look bereft right now and they will hope the loss of Jarrod Bowen and Kamil Grosicki doesn't cause their season to fall apart completely. Scrappy home win."

The Verdict

Reading have been a much-improved outfit under the new manager and have a big opportunity for three points against an out of form Hull side.

The Royals need to ensure they keep the momentum from their cup victory over Cardiff and carry that spirit they showed into the league.

Hull have been dreadful in recent weeks, and Grant McCann will be desperate for his side to show some sort of reaction to last week’s 5-1 defeat.

The home side should be too strong on the day but expect quite a few goals in this one.
