The Hawthorns is the venue for Norwich City’s trip to face West Bromwich Albion this weekend as the Championship campaign resumes.

The second tier was on hold last weekend to facilitate the hotly anticipated third round of the FA Cup as it does every January.

But attention for both sides turns back to matters for points rather than cup progression.

Daniel Farke’s men have faltered somewhat recently winning just two of their last six matches and having failed to win any of their last three.

Add to that a shock cup defeat to League One Portsmouth last weekend, and the Canaries will need to improve if they are to hold onto second place and potentially cut the gap to league leaders Leeds.

Darren Moore’s side, meanwhile, have lost once in their last six, that being last time out in the league at the hands of Blackburn Rovers.

The Baggies are fourth in the division and will be aiming to take points off of direct promotion rivals to possibly move back into the automatic places come the end of this round of fixtures.

Ahead of the game, Sky Sports enlisted the help of pundit David Prutton to cast his eye over this particular fixture.

The EFL presenter said: “Now this is a big game. West Brom have been trying to reel in the top two for a while, and this is a big opportunity for them to do just that.

“Norwich have failed to win their last three games, which is their worst run since their first three games of the season.

“There is every chance it will be four by Saturday evening, 3-2.”

The Verdict

A clash between two of the top four is surely going to be an exciting encounter.

Norwich need a win to get them back on track after a lacklustre few weeks, and West Brom will be looking to topple the Canaries and move into second come full time on Saturday.

It is an interesting battle and one that is highly anticipated viewing.

I think it will be such a hard contest to call, but there will be goals. A 2-2 draw for me.
