Norwich City will be hoping they can hold onto top-spot in the Championship after the next round of fixtures in the second-tier take place this weekend.

The Canaries narrowly beat Stoke City in their last match, which saw them maintain their one-point advantage over second-placed AFC Bournemouth.

Daniel Farke's side have some key players missing ahead of their next match up against Coventry City though, with the likes of Emi Buendia and Tim Krul just some of the players unavailable for selection.

Coventry City are currently sat 21st in the Championship, and will be eager to put together a positive run of results heading towards the festive period.

Sky Sports' EFL pundit David Prutton highlighted Buendia's absence as a potential issue for Daniel Farke's side, after the Argentine was sent-off against Stoke City in midweek.

But Prutton thought that the Canaries would still have enough quality in their squad to come out 2-1 winners up against the Sky Blues.

"Norwich are in a rich vein of form and certainly aren't top by luck at this point. It won't help not having Emi Buendia after his sending off, but Teemu Pukki seems to have gotten into gear.

"Coventry needed to find a system which kept the opposition out as they were conceding too many goals. Two clean sheets in a row suggests Mark Robins has done that. This is a bigger challenge, though. I can't see past a Norwich win."

If results are to go their way, Norwich could move four points clear at the top of the Championship table this weekend, as they look to make a swift return to the Premier League this term.

The Verdict:

I have to agree with him here.

Norwich might be missing quite a few players in this one, but I think they have enough depth in their squad to cope without the likes of Tim Krul and Emi Buendia.

Coventry have shown glimpses of their quality this season, but haven't been consistent enough when it comes to their results, which will be frustrating for the club's supporters.

I can see Norwich winning this one 2-0 at Carrow Road this weekend.
