Birmingham City will be looking to end a dismal run of results in the Championship when they return to action this weekend.

The Blues only have one win from their last 12 matches in all competitions, which has seen them slide down the second-tier standings at an alarming rate.

Aitor Karanka's side are currently sat 23rd in the table, and are in the relegation zone on goal difference heading into their final 18 matches this term.

They take on Luton Town this weekend, in what is likely to be a tough test up against the Hatters. Nathan Jones' side are sat 15th in the Championship, and will be looking to end their four game winless run at the earliest of opportunities.

Sky Sports' EFL pundit David Prutton has issued his thoughts ahead of the game, and predicted that the teams won't be separated in a 1-1 draw at St Andrew's on Saturday.

"Even when Birmingham managed to get a couple of goals last week they managed to lose against Bournemouth. They've been well and truly sucked into the bottom three and there is serious work to be done.

"Luton are slipping down the table. They still have a decent gap on the bottom three, but that can close very quickly. Both sides will be a little low on confidence, so I'll say draw."

A win for Aitor Karanka's side could see them move up to as high as 19th, but that is dependent on whether results go in their favour this weekend.

The Verdict:

This is going to be another tricky test for Birmingham City.

Aitor Karanka is under serious pressure from a number of the club's supporters, as the Blues' recent form has been a real cause for concern in recent months.

Their struggles have seen them drop into the battle for survival in the Championship, and it's vital that they pick up points at the earliest of opportunities.

Luton have impressed me this season though, and I wouldn't be surprised if Nathan Jones' side were to sneak a narrow win in this one.
