It's safe to say that it's been a hugely frustrating league campaign so far for Derby County, who are currently rooted to the bottom of the Championship table.

The Rams have only won once in their opening 14 matches of this year's league campaign, and will be eager to pick up much-needed points at the earliest of opportunities.

They are set to return to action on Tuesday, when they host fellow Championship strugglers Coventry City, who are currently sat 20th in the table.

But the Sky Blues will be in a confident mood heading into this one, after picking up a deserved point against league-leaders Norwich City at the weekend.

Derby are still managed by Wayne Rooney, although reports have emerged that John Terry could be in line to take the Rams job on a permanent basis, providing the club's new owners in waiting get their man according to the Daily Mail.

Sky Sports' EFL pundit David Prutton has issued his thoughts ahead of the game, and predicted that the teams will play out a 1-1 draw at Pride Park on Tuesday evening.

"Wayne Rooney took charge of Derby for the first time on Saturday and was so close to guiding the team to only their second win of the season before Wycombe veteran Matt Bloomfield illustrated the Chairboys' never-say-die attitude with a late equaliser.

"Coventry are navigating the division well at the moment and picked up a decent point against Norwich at the weekend. They've also put Watford through their paces and have beaten Reading, which is no mean feat. I can't split these two."

The Verdict:

I agree with his prediction here.

Derby are going to be very low on confidence heading into this one, after being forced to settle for a point in their most recent fixture against Wycombe Wanderers.

The Rams have been nowhere near good enough this season in the Championship, and the second-tier standings make for uncomfortable reading for the club's supporters.

Coventry are a side that have shown they can pick up points against some of the promotion-chasing sides in the Championship, and I expect them to come away with something for their efforts against Wayne Rooney's side on Tuesday evening.
