David Prutton has predicted for both Luton and Derby to share the points when they meet in midweek.

The Hatters come into the game on a run of nine games without victory in all competitions and are looking like they're going to struggle to stay in the Championship this season.

Graeme Jones' side have conceded a large number of goals, and you'd think they'd have to get in a couple of new faces before the window shuts if they're to have any chance of survival.

Derby, on the other hand, have picked up form since Wayne Rooney started playing for the club and the Rams have gone five matches unbeaten.

Prutton has predicted Phillip Cocu's side to pick up another point here, as the ex-Leeds United player has gone for a 1-1 draw.

Speaking in his Sky Sports column, Prutton said: "Luton have not had an easy ride in their first season back in the Championship and it's beginning to take its toll, without a doubt. Morale will have taken a hit after losing five on the spin but we know they have a fighting spirit and they will really need to dig deep from here on in.

"As expected, Wayne Rooney's arrival at Pride Park has had a profound effect; including his debut against Barnsley on January 2, the Rams have won three and drawn two, conceding just three times. It's been a much needed boost for Phillip Cocu's team and though I think the unbeaten run will continue here, I feel they may be forced to settled for a draw."

The Verdict

It should be a really interesting game this one, with both sides still desperate for wins. Derby will want a victory to continue their push up the table and hopefully be able to start challenging in the top-half.

Luton need any type of win that they can get at the moment. The Hatters are in desperate need of points, and you feel as though they need all three in this game.

It'll be a fascinating tie, and Luton must stop Rooney from working his magic in the middle of the park.

It will definitely be close, but there's no reason why the Hatters can't get a much needed win, especially seeing as though a number of players have returned from injury.
