David Prutton has predicted that Cardiff and Preston will play out an entertaining 2-2 draw when they meet in the Welsh capital this weekend.

Cardiff have been on an upward rise since Neil Harris took over the club, and now look like they are able to compete for a place in the top six of the Championship table. Last week's dramatic comeback at Leeds is the type of result that could seriously kick-start a season.

Preston, on the other hand, have been consistently good in the first-half of this current campaign and sit third in the table having won their last two games. The Lilywhites have a better record in front of their own fans, so the trip to Cardiff could prove to be a tough one for Alex Neil's side.

Speaking in his Sky Sports column, Prutton said: "What a comeback that was for Cardiff at Leeds last week. From three goals down they looked done for, but it just shows the impact that Neil Harris has had there already.

"Preston are over their blip and back up to third. It may be too late for them to challenge the top two, but they are right in among the play-off battle. Score draw here for me."

The Verdict

It should be a really interesting game on Saturday with both sides knowing how important three points could be, especially with a busy Christmas period coming up.

Cardiff will be hoping to get what could be an important victory in front of their own crowd. A win could lift the Bluebirds ever close to the top six ahead of the second-half of the season.

Preston will want three points to try and reduce the gap to the top two, but it will be difficult against a Cardiff side that will now be full of confidence.
