Former midfielder Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest midfielder David Prutton has offered his prediction for Queens Park Rangers' clash with Reading on Tuesday night.

Both sides go into the clash off the back of wins but the Sky Sports pundit has plumped for a home win in this one, backing Mark Warburton's side to win 3-2.

"QPR have been wonderful to watch this season, mainly because they can't stop scoring or conceding goals," Prutton wrote on Sky Sports News.

"There have been 42 of them in their 12 games so far, more than any other side in the Championship.

"Mark Bowen would have been delighted to win his first game in charge of Reading on Saturday, to lift some of the scrutiny and get them back to winning ways after such a poor slump of form.

"There should be goals here, but I fancy QPR to edge it."

QPR came from behind to beat Hull City by the same scoreline on Saturday, with Ryan Manning netting an equaliser before two penalties from Ebere Eze edged them in front, lifting them into fifth place in the second-tier table.

Reading on the other hand left it late, but picked up all three points against high-flying Preston North End thanks to Matt Miazga's late strike, getting Mark Bowen's tenure off to the perfect start.

The last meeting between the two teams finished 0-0 at Loftus Road at the end of 2018, with QPR edging the clash at the Madejski.

The verdict

I think Prutton is definitely thinking along the right lines here.

It is hard to see Reading keeping QPR out for the 90 minutes, even though they managed it against Preston, with Mark Warburton's employing a huge attacking emphasis.

However, the Royals will be full of attacking confidence following their win on Saturday and will feel they have a chance against the Hoops.

But with the QPR duo in such lethal form, if it comes to outscoring, I would back the home side.
