Ipswich Town travel to Villa Park to take on Aston Villa tomorrow afternoon for matchday 29 in the Championship.

Dean Smith’s men will be aiming to improve on last week’s comeback draw with Hull City against Paul Lambert’s bottom of the table outfit.

A win for Villa could see them move to eighth in the table, and cut the gap to the top six to four points.

The gap to the play-offs has widened somewhat in recent weeks with Smith’s side without a win in four matches – having not picked up a victory since the Boxing Day win over Swansea City.

Ipswich, meanwhile, are cut adrift at the foot of the table, seven points from safety.

After a win over Wigan two weeks ago, they fell to defeat to Blackburn Rovers last time out.

Victory is a must if Town are to cut the deficit to Rotherham United who are above the dreaded drop zone by two points.

Ahead of the clash, Sky Sports enlisted the help of pundit David Prutton to give his thoughts on the outcome of this intriguing Championship fixture.

The EFL presenter said: “We're seeing an alarming run of form for Aston Villa, who haven't won a game now in any competition since beating Swansea on Boxing Day.

“It is starting to look like a hopeless situation for Ipswich, though, so this should be a relatively straightforward home win, 2-0.”

The Verdict

This is a game that both sides need to win for very different reasons

Games are running out for Ipswich to get the points on the board to try and escape their possible fate of relegation.

And Aston Villa need to win to get closer to the play-offs where many of their fans feel the club deserve to be at the very least.

Both sides are out of form somewhat, but the visitors have been for longer, and the only thing plausible here is a home win.

I am going for a 3-1 Villa win over Ipswich.
