David May is a name that will still be remembered incredibly fondly amongst those Blackburn fans above the age of 40.

Graduating through the youth side at Ewood Park, May went on to become an integral member of the Lancashire club on the right-hand side of the defence.

In total, he made over 100 appearances, helping them win promotion to the Premier League and then to a second-place finish, departing to Manchester United in the summer before they went on to lift the title themselves.

He made the move to Old Trafford after contract negotiations broke down and Sir Alex Ferguson swooped in.

In his first campaign, May largely played as a right-back due to injuries throughout the squad, but a string of poor performances towards the end of the campaign meant he lost his place to a certain emerging talent called Gary Neville.

The next two seasons saw him thrust onto the frontline in his preferred centre-back role with Steve Bruce retiring, scoring in a 3-0 victory that clinched the Premier League title as well as starting in the 1996 FA Cup Final against Liverpool.

He had largely dropped out of the starting XI by the time that famous 1998/99 treble-winning season rolled around with Wes Brown and Jaap Stam emerging as preferred options.

After his contract expired in 2003 May was snapped up by Burnley, but his career had largely peaked and he retired three years later with Bacup Borough.

But where is he now?

May initially went down the typical post-footballing route of coaching, taking a role at Bacup before moving to a soccer school in Dubai in 2007.

But more recently he can be found bringing some of the world's finest wines into Britain from South Africa with a friend, although ended the venture just two years later after falling out with his business partner.
