Local folk band Chonkinfeckle have re-written their classic folk song, “I’m from Wigan me”, as a tribute to the Latics’ FA Cup heroics.

Chonkinfeckle recorded the music video at the DW Stadium, with long-standing chairman Whelan making an appearance, playing the tub bass and harmonica superbly in the process.

Wigan won the FA Cup in dramatic circumstances last May, as Ben Watson’s 90th minute header gave the Latics a memorable victory over Manchester City at Wembley.

Many presumed that Uwe Rosler’s side would not come this far in the defence of their trophy. However, Wigan have exceeded all expectations and have reached another Cup semi final.

All of the money collected from the single will be donated to Wigan-based charity Joseph’s Goal.
