Daryl Murphy returns early from international duty

Published

Ipswich Town have announced that striker Daryl Murphy has had to return home early from international duty after picking up an injury.

Whilst making his 11th appearance for the Republic of Ireland at the Aviva Stadium last Friday, the Town striker injured his thigh.

Martin O’Neill’s squad travel to Philadelphia to face Costa Rica on Friday, before facing Portugal in New Jersey, but Murphy will not be joining them.

Instead the 31-year-old will travel back to Portman Road to receive treatment for his thigh injury before Ipswich’s pre-season begins.

Murphy scored 13 goals for the Tractor Boys last season, but is yet to score for Ireland.
