The Verdict:

Daryl Dike would be an excellent addition for West Brom, with Ismael already getting to know him during their time together and the striker thriving in the Frenchman's system, scoring nine goals in 19 Championship appearances last season.

This is an excellent achievement and with the funds generated from the sale of Matheus Pereira, they could potentially submit a tempting offer to Orlando City, whether they pursue a permanent deal or just a temporary agreement.

Ex-West Brom man Carlton Palmer believes their ability to chase Dike will depend on the departure of Sam Johnstone, because the keeper could free up a sizeable sum of money depending on how much West Brom officials hold out for during the rest of the window.

However, the club have recently opened contract negotiations with the 28-year-old and with West Ham and Arsenal clinching their goalkeeping targets in Alphonse Areola and Aaron Ramsdale, a move away this summer seems unlikely for the shot-stopper now, with Manchester United not following up on their initial interest.

If Palmer is right, we may not see Dike arrive in the West Midlands this summer - but it's great to see him and Mowatt still in contact and just shows how much respect the latter commended at Oakwell as Barnsley's former captain.
