Doncaster Rovers manager has spoken out about the arrival of Jason Lokilo on loan from Crystal Palace, admitting that a successful loan spell could see him push for a permanent deal.
Jason Lokilo is a product of Anderlecht’s academy, he signed for Crystal Palace in 2015 and just two years later he made his first team debut, a cameo appearance against Ipswich Town in the League Cup.
After struggling to make a breakthrough under Hodgson, the Palace winger went on loan to Ligue 2 side Lorient last season where he gained valuable experience in a first team set up.
At 21-years-old, it’s becoming increasingly important that Lokilo gains first team opportunities and a loan spell under the guidance of Darren Moore will only benefit his development.
An opportunity to perform in a side who play a free-flowing, attacking style will allow Lokilo to show his worth to his parent club and employer.
Whilst he is yet to make his first senior appearance for Rovers, he has shown promising signs already after scoring in the U23’s draw to Grimsby Town last Sunday.
In an interview with the Doncaster Free Press, Moore appeared to be a big admirer of Lokilo when prompted about a permanent move, he said: “Yeah, if he comes and shows the potential we believe he’s got.
“Any footballer just wants to play. He wants to play and he’s come here to add to the squad.”
Doncaster already have five loan players at their disposal who are all valuable to their push for a play-off place, however, healthy competition for Lokilo is only beneficial as he will be trying everything to prove his worth to Darren Moore.
If Lokilo has a successful loan spell then it’s a fair assessment of where he is at as a player and Moore’s views on the player will surely fill the player with some much needed confidence.
A loan for a young player can be a daunting experience, but Lokilo will be eager to show his current employers that he is worthy of a permanent move should he make a solid impression at the Keepmoat Stadium.
