West Brom boss Darren Moore has praised winger Oliver Burke after he scored the winner for Albion in their Carabao Cup victory over Luton last night.

The Scotland international was a big-money arrival at The Hawthorns 12 months ago, joining the Baggies from German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.

Yet, the 21-year old struggled after making the move and failed to establish himself as a regular under Tony Pulis and Alan Pardew as Albion were relegated.

And, he has only managed 15 minutes in the league under Moore this season.

However, he was given an opportunity from the start for Albion last night in a central role up top and the Baggies boss was delighted with his impact - which included netting his first goal for the club.

"I was very pleased for Oli to get the goal. It will do him the world of good," he told the Express & Star.

"It's always nice if you have a player who can play a couple of positions and he looks equally comfortable up front. I thought he held himself very well."

"He's been patient, he's persevered, worked hard in training, and continues to do so."

The Verdict

Burke hasn't really kicked on since breaking onto the scene at Nottingham Forest, but the talent is most certainly there.

Now, it's down to the player and he has to do his all when he gets the chance to impress Moore - as he did last night.

There is fierce competition at Albion in the final third so he will have to maintain those levels if he wants to establish himself as a regular in the team.
