Darren Moore has given his take on the potential play-off semi-final between his former club West Brom and Aston Villa.

Both teams secured their position in the top six on Easter Monday and look set to meet each other in the play-off semi-finals, with currently Albion fourth and Villa fifth in the Championship table.

Moore was unexpectedly sacked as the Baggies' head coach last month, with the team fourth in the Championship table, nine points outside the automatic promotion places.

James Shan has won five and drawn one of his eight matches in caretaker charge of the club since Moore's departure, helping the team to cement their position in the play-off places.

Meanwhile, Villa extended their incredible winning run to ten consecutive matches with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Millwall on Monday, breaking a club record that has stood since 1910.

Moore has delivered verdict on the potential clash and has warned both teams that they will be in for a tough game, should they meet each other in the play-offs.

"Wonderful advert for the Midlands," Moore told Sky Sports News, as quoted by HITC.

"Two big clubs in the Midlands. It's looking like that they are going to go head-to-head in the playoffs.

"Looking at Villa, they have real power, real momentum and energy. Also, my former club West Brom, there's a steady and quietly confident group of players in there that knows what it takes. Understands what it takes.

"They'll be looking forward to the game. Both teams have got an equal amount of quality. Both teams have got players that can hurt any opposition.

"An individual player [Jack Grealish] that possesses wonderful quality. He's a talent. He's their talisman. He seems to have a calmness and shows an understanding and a quality just when you need it.

"He's their go-to player, at the moment. But outside of that, they have got McGinn, Abraham, the boy Tyrone Mings at the back, who has shown great leadership qualities."

Villa are currently two points behind West Brom in the Championship table.

Although both teams are already guaranteed to make the top six, the final two matches of the regular season could be crucial, as whoever finishes fifth will have an advantage in the play-offs by playing the second leg at home.

The Verdict:

Moore is right. Both teams look set to meet each other in the play-offs in what promises to be a thoroughly entertaining semi-final.

Villa have been unstoppable in the Championship over the past few weeks and if they can carry this momentum into the play-offs, they stand every chance of ending the season with promotion.

West Brom also have a great chance of securing an immediate return to the Premier League and were the last team to beat Villa back in February.
