West Brom will welcome back winger Matt Phillips when they face Derby at The Hawthorns in their Championship clash tomorrow.

The former QPR man has been sorely missed in the past month, with a muscle strain meaning he has missed the last four league games.

In that time, the experienced Tyrone Mears has filled in but he doesn't possess the same quality as Phillips, who has scored four goals in nine games this season.

And, speaking to the Express & Star, Moore confirmed he is ready to feature against the Rams, whilst also explaining his absence in the weekend defeat to Wigan.

"Saturday was a case of not risking him. He was ready but we just thought we wanted to give him a couple more days training. He is fit and available."

However, there isn't such good news on Craig Dawson, who was replaced in the second half against the Latics, and 37-year-old Gareth Barry, who will both be checked on the day of the game.

"Obviously both players have taken knocks and we will assess both players and give them every opportunity. We will look at them again in the morning and make our decision off the back of that."

The Verdict

You can't underestimate how important having Phillips back will be to West Brom. He offers them so much more than Mears who is a full-back having to play in a more advanced role.

Therefore, Moore and the fans will be delighted to have him back and he will be a big player on the night.

With Jake Livermore suspended Albion will be desperate to have Barry available, whilst Dawson's importance in defence is well-known, so you can understand why Moore will wait to see if they can make it.
