Darren Moore has called for patience from the Sheffield Wednesday support as they booed the team off at half-time of the 1-0 victory over Charlton Athletic yesterday.

The Owls are expected to push for promotion this season, so there is a pressure on the players to deliver.

Therefore, fans were not happy with what they saw in the first 45 minutes against the Addicks, as they visitors controlled play and Wednesday failed to register a shot on target. That prompted a section of the support to boo as the teams went off.

And, speaking to Yorkshire Live, Moore explained why those on the terraces need to show a bit of patient, as he made sure to praise them for how they helped in the second half.

"My message to the fans is we are not going to win four or five nil at Hillsborough every week. We are creating a little bit of Colosseum here. We want to win every game here but sometimes it is not going to work like that.

"The one thing the fans can do is stay with us. We had to dig in and get the result today. I thank the fans for staying with us."

A goal from Tyreeq Bakinson would seal the points late on for Moore's men.

The verdict

This seemed harsh from the fans that did boo as we're only three games into the season and Wednesday have done well so far.

But, it shows just how big the demands are at Wednesday and you ultimately can't complain about that because they're a huge club and they rightly expect to go up this season.

Moore's reaction here is very sensible and measured, and he will be delighted that the side showed the character to improve after the break and get the win.
