Darren Moore has revealed that Bakary Sako is eager to make his first appearance in a West Brom shirt after completing his move.

The Baggies moved to sign the former Wolves winger on a free transfer at the start of the month and he has been working on improving his fitness since.

However, Moore told the Express & Star that the 30-year-old is now available to feature after impressing in training.

"Bakary is chomping at the bit to get a start. We’re pleased to have him up to speed. He wants to get a taste of it."

"The way he’s been training and the level of work he has put in would suggest to me that he’s saying ‘I’m ready’. Where he was before to where he is now, there’s a massive improvement."

Given those comments, the Mali international will hope to be involved today as Albion travel to take on Wigan, knowing victory will take them top - even if it's only for a few hours.

Moore's men are on a seven-game unbeaten run, which includes five victories, and such form has seen them emerge as favourites for the Championship title.

The Verdict

This is a big boost for West Brom as Sako has proven himself to be a fine player at this level over the years.

Although, he will have to be patient as he waits for an opportunity as Albion have been superb going forward this season so he won't just walk into the side.

Nevertheless, he is a fantastic option to have from the bench and Moore clearly thinks he can make a contribution today if needed.
