West Bromwich Albion have announced that right-back Allan Nyom has joined Spanish side Leganes on a season-long loan.

In a statement on the West Bromwich Albion website, the club confirmed that the 30-year-old defender had joined the Madrid based outfit on a one-year loan switch.

According to Birmingham Live, Baggies head coach Darren Moore has wish Nyom well on his move, and now will turn his attention to filling the absent right back position in the coming weeks, before the loan transfer window closes at the end of the month.

Moore stated: “We wish Allan every success going forward because he’s been a wonderful player here.

“The fans and everybody here has taken to his playing style and personality. He’s done really well for us but the opportunity to experience football elsewhere was too much for him.

“The offer was right for the football club so we wish him every success going forward.”

Now with no default right backs at the Hawthorns, 28-year-old Craig Dawson is likely to take over duties for West Brom’s clash with Queens Park Rangers this weekend, with attentions turning to the loan market soon after the match.

Moore continued: “Right-back is a position we are looking to strengthen as are other areas of the team.

“If the right players become available to move this club forward, then we’ll be very much interested. Until then we just focus on the game and put all our energy into the match on Saturday.”

The Verdict

Allan Nyom going out on loan is the right decision for all parties, with the full back not having played to his potential at the Hawthorns to date.

However, with Dawson having not made an appearance yet this season due to fitness issues, West Brom may need to act fast to find a replacement at right back.

Darren Moore will certainly be turning to the loan transfer market in the coming weeks, but the dilemma at right back for now carries on.
