New West Brom boss Darren Moore was delighted with the fixtures released this morning, with his side set to face Bolton Wanderers at home on the opening day.

Despite relegation last season, Moore oversaw a remarkable upturn in fortunes, losing just one of his six games in charge at the Hawthorns.

That led to him landing the job on a permanent basis and he's raring to go, despite dropping down a division.

"It's great to be at home for the first game of the season," he told the Express and Star. "No matter what game it was, it's always going to be a tough one, it always is for the first game of the season but I'm looking forward to it.

"The good thing for me, the football club and everyone connected to the football club is that the first game is a home fixture in front of our home fans."

44-year-old Moore made over 100 appearances as a player for the Baggies, returning as a youth coach in 2012 after his playing career ended.

The Verdict

Baggies fans have every right to be excited about the future, the Championship is a challenging division but it is also thrilling and entertaining.

It won't be a walkover, Bolton won't be easy at home, but then, there are no easy games at this level.

As for Darren Moore, he had a great start to his managerial career and if he continues that form, West Brom will be there or thereabouts come May.
