Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore has confirmed that Mallik Wilks has trained and is 'available for selection' against Shrewsbury Town tomorrow.

The attacker joined the Owls from Hull City in the summer transfer window and has had a mixed start to life at Hillsborough. Whilst his impact on the pitch has been clear, with Wilks scoring once and registering three assists in seven league games, injuries have disrupted his campaign.

The 23-year-old has missed the past two games and was a doubt for the visit of Steve Cotterill's side, however Moore has revealed to the club's media that Wilks is ready to be involved tomorrow.

"Mallik has trained all week, he is fine and available for selection."

Of course, it's by no means certain that Wilks will come back into the XI for the game, with Josh Windass an option and Alex Mighten scored the winner last time out against Accrington after a slow start to his time at Wednesday.

A win could see Moore's side move into the top two as they look to leapfrog Ipswich Town in the promotion battle.

The verdict

This is good news for Wednesday as whilst they have a very talented squad, there's no denying that Wilks is a top player who has proven that he can make a difference at this level.

So, you would expect him to play a part tomorrow and it's then down to Wilks to show that he deserves a place in the XI.

For Moore, even though he will have a selection dilemma, it's exactly the situation he would want to be in and it's now down to him to keep the momentum going as they chase a top two finish.
