Leeds United moved into the automatic promotion places with a narrow 2-1 win over relegation-threatened Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on Saturday.
Marcelo Bielsa's side are starting to pick up form at the ideal time, as they look to send out a statement to the rest of their promotion rivals heading into the festive period.
One player that has been key to Bielsa's squad for much of this year's league campaign is Stuart Dallas, with the 28-year-old being used in a number of different positions so far this term.
Speaking in an interview with Football Insider, Darren Bent issued his thoughts on Dallas' versatility in the Leeds team in recent seasons, and felt that Marcelo Bielsa has full confidence in the Northern Irishman, wherever he plays this term.
"Yeah it works in his favour, sometimes it can work against you as no one really knows what your best position is and you don’t really end up nailing any position down.
"But for someone like him who has good quality, has done well for Leeds in the last few seasons, for your manager to have that sort of faith in you where he is like if we need a right-wing back or left-wing back, you’re the best alternative, or if he needs a player to play further forward, he’ll pick him then too."
Bent went on to admit that Dallas is like a new signing in the Leeds squad, and felt as though his versatility will give the rest of the Whites squad confidence.
"As a player that gives you confidence, the players in the dressing room will be laughing about that as they’ll be taking it as a positive.
"As if you are that good and can play in so many different positions then that’s like having several new signings as if you’ve got someone who cannot only slot into several positions but do well, then listen that’s brilliant."
Dallas has made 17 appearances in total this season, and will be keen to build on some impressive showings as the season progresses, with Leeds looking to win a long-awaited promotion back into the Premier League.
Dallas and his Leeds team-mates are next in action on Tuesday, when they take on Reading at the Madejski Stadium in what could potentially be a difficult test for Bielsa's side against a Royals side that have shown improvement in recent weeks.
The Verdict:
Dallas has really impressed me in recent seasons.
His versatility is quite remarkable to be honest, and it's a credit to him that he looks as though he's played in different positions for years when he steps into the starting XI.
He's the ideal option to have in the Leeds squad, as he can do a job in most positions, which is useful given that Leeds' have struggled with injuries in the last few years.
