Darren Bent has stated that loanee, Eddie Nketiah, is 'coming' for Leeds striker, Patrick Bamford, after the youngster scored two goals whilst on duty with the England under-21s.

Nketiah joined the Whites on a season-long loan from Arsenal in the summer but is yet to make a start in the Championship.

He has come off the bench on several occasions, and even scored the winner for Marcelo Bielsa's side when they faced Brentford at Elland Road in August.

The 20-year-old will be hoping to make his first league start of the season in Sunday's clash with Yorkshire rivals, Barnsley.

Bent has claimed that it's only a matter of time before Nketiah comes into the side, as every time he's been called into action, he's found the back of the net.

Speaking to Football Insider, Bent said: "Eddie Nketiah. This guy, he’s had to play second fiddle to Patrick but every time he has been called upon he scores, plays really well.

“What I like about him is he’s quick, powerful, he’ll score goals, he’s really impressed me. It’s nothing that we didn’t know. Bamford has done well to hold onto that shirt but Eddie Nketiah, he’s coming.

“Once Patrick Bamford picks up a little injury, which I hope doesn’t happen, or drops off in form, he’s ready to go.”

The Verdict

I think Darren Bent is spot on. Nketiah will get his opportunity very soon, and it's up to him whether he'll able to take it.

He's had a fine start, and scored in both Carabao Cup games that he started, so the goal-scoring potential is there for all to see.

It'll be interesting if Bielsa decides to try and play both Bamford and Nketiah at any point of the season or whether he sticks to playing his preferred formation. It's a big season for Leeds who will want to challenge near the top end of the league once more.
