Darren Bent has praised Leeds United winger Jack Harrison for his performances this season and suggested that he has exceeded expectations.

Harrison scored Leeds' second goal in their 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers yesterday.

No player in Marcelo Bielsa's squad has contributed to more goals than the 22-year-old has this season–having scored three times and added four assists.

The Manchester City loanee has been in fantastic form in recent weeks–contributing two goals and four assists in his last six games.

Harrison joined on his second consecutive season-long loan in the summer and Leeds do have the option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.

If he can continue his current form, the Whites will have a big decision to make over the winger's future.

Speaking to Football Insider, Bent heaped praise on Harrison after his recent displays.

He said: "He’s done really really well this season.

"Another one who has come on leaps and bounds, he showed flashes last year but he has come on this season and Leeds are in a good place this season, they’re top at the moment.

“But Jack Harrison has performed really well, he has exceeded expectations, not many people spoke about him being the main man at the start of the season, a lot of people spoke about Jack Clarke being the main man, but it’s not happened for him at all.

“But it’s brilliant for Harrison and hopefully he can maintain it and Leeds can get promoted.”

Harrison's performances have helped Bielsa's side climb to third in the Championship, two points behind league leaders West Bromwich Albion.

Due to the international break, the Whites will have to wait almost two weeks for their chance to break into the top two.

They travel to Kenilworth Road on the 23rd of November to face Luton Town.

The Verdict

Harrison took some stick from fans for his performances at the start of the season but has been phenomenal for the Whites in recent weeks.

You can't really argue with Bent, the 22-year-old has improved significantly in the 2019/20 campaign.

He was always a player that would put a shift in for the side but his production in recent weeks has made him a key attacking weapon for Bielsa.

It is going to be very interesting to see whether or not Leeds decide to sign him permanently in the summer, particularly if they're promoted.
