Watford got back to winning ways in style over the weekend, as they smashed Bristol City 6-0 at Vicarage Road.

Whilst there were many standout performers for the Hornets, Ismaila Sarr was clearly the best player on the pitch, as the Senegal international delivered a timely reminder of his undoubted ability.

The former Rennes man scored two and assisted two in a devastating performance, which highlighted why he had been a man in demand in previous windows.

And, his form certainly impressed former England striker Darren Bent, as he explained to EFL on Quest why Sarr has shown a strong mentality to perform in the second tier.

"They’re a team that’s come down from the Premier League and managed to hold on to their best players. Sarr was brilliant.

"Two assists, two goals and the pace as well! He was linked with the biggest clubs in the world, Man United, Liverpool, so the fact he’s got his head down and playing so well in the Championship, that’s testament to the manager and himself."

The result leaves Watford fourth in the table, and six points away from the automatic promotion places.

The verdict

There won't be many arguing with Bent here, as his praise of Sarr was fully merited and deserved.

In truth, the wide man has frustrated at times this season, but that's because Watford fans know how good he is, with Saturday an example of his ridiculous talent.

The challenge for Xisco Munoz is to get the 22-year-old to replicate that form on a weekly basis, and if he does, a top two finish shouldn't be ruled out.
