Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has claimed that Garry Monk will ‘probably get another top job’ after he was sacked by Birmingham City.
Monk was sacked by Birmingham after 15 months in charge at St Andrew’s following a reported fallout with the club hierarchy.
It was reported last week that Monk’s future at Birmingham was in doubt after a disagreement with chief executive Xuandong Ren over the club’s strategy for next season and the decision to allow Jota to join Aston Villa, but was expected to remain in charge.
Monk departs St Andrew’s after 15 months in charge of Birmingham and was able to keep the club in the Championship last season, despite a nine-point deduction from the EFL for breaching profitability and sustainability rules.
Peterborough owner MacAnthony took to social media to give his thoughts on Monk’s departure when questioned by a fan and pointed out that he keeps getting opportunities to manage top clubs, despite failing to win promotion in his career as a manager.
That fella keeps getting good jobs. Bit like Rowett. No promotions but plenty great jobs. Great agents ????. He’ll probably get another top job. https://t.co/ZDu22iuDcV

Monk has managed Swansea City, Leeds United, Middlesbrough and Birmingham in his career, but is yet to win promotion as a manager so far.
It’s an interesting point that MacAnthony makes. Monk is obviously a good manager and he obviously has a lot of potential, or he wouldn’t keep getting offered jobs by top clubs in the Championship.
I thought he did a good job for Birmingham last season, in difficult circumstances and it’s a major blow for them to lose him ahead of next season.
