Former Leeds United defender Danny Mills believes that Marcelo Bielsa will have a selection headache against Barnsley this weekend after several Whites players on the fringes impressed on international duty.

The Argentinian may have made changes anyway, after his Leeds side lost 1-0 at home to Swansea City last time out.

However, speaking to Football Insider, Mills stated that Bielsa will have been monitoring the progress of his players who have been away, with Eddie Nketiah, who shone for England's U21 side, someone who could be handed a start.

"I think Marcelo Bielsa will have some questions to answer when everyone comes back from the international break but that’s what you want, competition for places. Everybody wants to play, everybody wants to be in the first-team and that’s what raises the levels of everybody else’s play. There’s not an awful lot between them.

"At the moment, Bamford’s got the jersey, if he continues to score and play well, he’ll keep it. When Nketiah gets his chance, he’s got to take it."

The Yorkshire outfit head to Oakwell on Sunday to take on local rivals Barnsley as they look to get back into the top two.

The verdict

You have to agree with Mills here and it will be very interesting to see the XI that the manager goes with against the Tykes.

But, this is exactly the position he wants to be in as he has real strength in depth in certain areas and it's down to the players to take any opportunities that come their way.

It is worth noting that Bielsa has been loyal to his players in the past, so you would expect only a few tweaks at most, meaning Nketiah might have to be patient once again.
