Leeds United’s former right-back Danny Mills has said that Liverpool won’t be the only club to be keeping tabs on defender Ben White this season.
The youngster has reportedly attracted the attention of the Reds, with the Sun reporting this weekend that Liverpool could be set to make a £20m move for the Brighton loanee.
However, despite his good performances for Leeds and Liverpool looking on keenly, Mills claims that White will have a whole host of suitors if he carries on.
Speaking to Football Insider, Mills said: “Of course he’s going to be on people’s radar and why shouldn’t he be, but being on the radar and them putting a bid in is completely different. There’s a lot of teams, I’m sure, that will be watching him because he’s done very, very well.
“I’m sure as a player it’s always flattering that other people are watching, but you’ve got to prove that.”
White has been a regular starter for Leeds this term as Marcelo Bielsa has put his faith in the youngster to replace Pontus Jansson at the heart of the Whites’ defence.
His performances have been a model of consistency, given Leeds have had to partner him with different players thanks to injuries to the likes of Liam Cooper.
Sometimes, a point is made from a pundit which can be a bit obvious, and this is one of them.
Of course, there will be other teams looking at White, it makes no sense that there wouldn’t be.
He has been nothing short of superb. Liverpool might be a move too soon for him, so a best-case scenario for White might be getting into the Brighton team next year, and then proving himself in the Premier League before looking at the big four.
