The East Midlands ended in a 0-0 draw as neither side were able to break the stalemate.

Derby County came into this game with the higher league position while Forest came into it with better form.

Chances were few and far between with Derby having the better of the exchanges, but they were unable to get past goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon.

Forest were gifted a golden chance late in the game because Tom Huddlestone was sent off for a second yellow card offence, but they were unable to take advantage of having an extra man.

A draw was a fair result although neither side will be happy because Forest struggled to create while Derby needed the win. However, Danny Fox believes that there were some positives in their performance.

Here's what Fox had to say to the Nottingham Forest official site: "It is another point on the board and it extends the run but I think we are disappointed not to take all three. They had some good chances but we were home and we want to win our home games as much as we can."

"We are getting stronger and stronger with every game and the gaffer is instilling into us his methods and it is paying off on the pitch."

The Verdict

Nottingham Forest do appear to be progressing after a slow start under Aitor Karanka. The large amount of players that were brought in could be part of the reason why it has took a while for his methods to click.

Doing the majority of the transfer business in January means that they can start next season strongly because the players will be adjusted to the club's environment and Karanka's methods.

Derby probably played the better of the two teams in this match on the balance of play, but they have been strong this season, so a draw is a good result for Forest.
