Huddersfield Town boss Danny Cowley has heaped praise on Jonathan Hogg’s character, along with recent performances of Alex Pritchard and Steven Mounie.

The Terriers have been in strong form recently and it is in no small part down to the great team effort that they have demonstrated since the arrival of Danny Cowley in early September.

There have still certainly been some standout players in their current run as they currently look to bounce back from a disappointing defeat to Preston North End which halted their seven-game unbeaten run in the league.

The efforts of many in the squad might go under the radar to most with the headline-grabbing outings of players like Karlan Grant, Juninho Bacuna and others taking centre-stage. However, Danny Cowley has moved to praise trio Jonathan Hogg, Alex Pritchard, and Steven Mounie for their recent impact on and off the pitch.

These players have been part of the club in what were testing times in the Premier League last season and Hogg much longer, back when the club were perennial Championship strugglers. The selfless efforts of these players have allowed others to shine at the West Yorkshire club this season.

When speaking to the club’s official site ahead of the visit of Birmingham City, Cowley had this to say on the trio and their impact: “Jonathan Hogg is one of those individuals that is an incredibly strong man and a fighter. For me, he typifies what we are as a football club.”

“I thought Alex Pritchard and Steve Mounié were the positives for us against Preston. Pritch has been able to train regularly which is a positive.

“We all know the quality that Alex has. We missed him certainly.”

The Verdict

There’s no doubting the quality these three have, as they have shown in their career, but Cowley will be hoping they can build on their recent efforts heading into the hectic festive period.

Pritchard and Mounie may have to be patient for their opportunity to arrive with Lewis O’Brien and Karlan Grant performing exceptionally in their place, but they are clearly working hard to give Cowley a headache over his selection process.
